Re: Career in Physics

below 60% is not at all very good marks in physics. jam is a good option. another good option is to have integrated msc.though many people admit that it is not so good,my personal experience is this scheme saves time for two years and can save you from another headache or confusion after msc on where to get phd.

Re: Career in Physics

you are intersted in physics career.
there is lot of scope with physics.
but it always depends on your interest that in which field you have more command and more interest.you can go in these field as
1 nuclear energy, department of science.
2.
atomic research and development.
3. indian space research organisation.

these are the best choices with physics.
these all are govermental institution. with thiese institutions you will get both name with fame.but for this all you have to face a little tough entrance exam.and you should have little working experience.
for more information of job you can put your resume on jobs sites. tey are available so easily.
they will give all information about the new jobs with great career.

You have not mentioned whether you have done B.Sc as general pass course or with physics honors..

Anyway, its very good to know that you are interested to study in physics and you have a good percentage also in graduation.

So what is there for second thought? Just go for the Master's on it from a reputed institute.

There are a number of top colleges offering Master's degree in Physics. In your future you can do the Phd also on special sectors of physics.

Here are the most popular institutes to study M.Sc physics:

Career Options In Physics

Physics is fundamental and foundation for all scientific inventions so it has wide range of Career opportunities. So developing a career, as a physics graduate, students can have the benefit of multiple choices as specified:

Can become a scientist
Can Opt for work that involves science outside the laboratory
Can consider offers from the broad range of employers, who are keen to recruit to do something quite different in the Physics related field.

Physicists are the most fundamental of scientists, for they examine the basic laws of nature. A physicist's job can be broadly classified into two major categories.

An experimentalist
A theoretician

This section of coachingindians.com tries to facilitate the Aspirants with some helpful ad handy information about the career related to Physics.

The Career in Physics basically offers two options, the professional option and the applied option, for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in physics.

Physics as professional option: The professional option is intended for students who, usually after graduate study, expect to become physicists in industrial or government research and development laboratories, or in teaching institutions.

Physics as applied option: The applied option is intended for students who plan to pursue a technical career in physics or other technical areas, usually without further study. The general option is a flexible liberal arts program with physics as a major component for students who do not necessarily wish to become physicists.

Almost all the above mentioned career options come with higher educational degrees such as Master's Degrees, Doctorates which are essential for college and university teaching and research, upper level research positions in the Government / industry, and higher administrative positions.

Those with bachelor's degrees may work in applied research and development as research assistants or in design, administration or engineering. Physics People often apply their predictions and theories to other fields - chemistry, biology, geophysics, engineering, communication, transportation, electronics and health.

Re: Career in Physics

In ordinary B.Sc(PCM) you study theses subjects with equal weightage of marks. We ususally name it as passcourse. This is suitable if you simply want a B.Sc degree to persue some other course later for which graduation is essential. If you take up honours in a particular subject say for instance Physics then the syllabus of that subject will be at a higher level than ordinary pass course. With this you hav to take two pass course subjects which can be Chem and Maths. The syllabus for these two will be at the level of pass subjects. The total marks for hons course will be more than the pass course. For doing M.sc having a honours degree is almost essential because without it is virtually impossible to get admission. My advice to my students has always been to take up a hons course which keeps a lot of option open. Your class in final B.Sc exam depends on marks obtained in hons subject but it is essential to get at least pass marks in other two subjects.

Re: Career in Physics

Listen, I suggest u continue physics only if u really have the drive and determination. You must be ready for a lot of hard work and sacrifice. You will need to work many years without much pay before you can reap the benefits. So dont go into physics thinking it will give u a very good career and lots of money. Only continue if u truely love the subject. After b.sc you can apply to state universities for an m.sc. DU and CU are the best. You can also give JAM exam for getting into the iits. You can also apply to prestigious research colleges like TIFR, IISc, HRI etc for an integrated PhD but that would require a lot of preperation. If u want a job quickly and more money in the future i suggest goin for a b.tech or an mba.

these are the name of some universities which offerce b.tech for bsc holders

otherwise after B.sc you can do MBA after qualifying CAT or MAT like
this type of exam

after that you can do job in companies or institute

as you wish
have a good day

Re: Career in Physics

dear friend,

it is good to build your career in physics.. for that you have to go for Msc after completion of your Bsc. which will help you in gathering further knowledge..

you can go for Phd, after your Msc.. which will help you in doing research on nuclear physics, Astro physics .. etc..

you can apply for jobs in 1.nuclear energy department of science.

2.atomic research and development.

3. Indian space research organization.

these are the best field for you ....

you have to appear in some tough entrance exam to get in these type of organization..

so, there is higher prospect in future, you have to work hard in that field..

all the best.

Re: Career in Physics

HI!

Simple graduates in physics are under-qualified for research and industry jobs. A postgraduate degree with a background in particular specialization will increase your job prospects.

You can find employment in the following field:

As scientists in national laboratories & organizations like BARC, DRDO, SSPL, ISRO, Space Application Centres (SAC) etc.

In research institutes such as PRL Ahmedabad, IPR Gandhinagar, IUCAA, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics Calcutta, ARIES, Uttrakhand, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Centre for Liquid Crystal Research (CLCR), UGC DAE CSR.

In constituent laboratories & institutes of CSIR like National Physical Laboratory (NPL), National Geophysical Research Institute, Regional Research Laboratories, etc.

In agricultural research services with soil physics & agricultural physics as specialization.

Teaching positions in secondary & higher secondary schools, degree colleges, poly techniques, engineering colleges & state and central universities.

Moreover the ubiquitous position of physics tutor is always there. Some reputed coaching institutes offer really fabulous pay packages

Re: Career in Physics

The best way to have a good future in physics is higher studies from IISc, IISERs. There is entrance examination for the admission. There is some integrated program also of 4-5 years duration for both MSc and PhD together. After PhD from there you can get lectureship in any good college/university.
You can appear Natinal Eligibility Test for JRF(Junior research fellowships) after MSC or Phd.
Also, you can opt for teaching (Physics) in coachings for IIT-JEE and Medical if yuor interest in there.
After from that you can appear Civil Services.
