I am HSC passed but a repeater from commerce with accounts. So can I join Merchant Navy on the basis of 10 standard with 42% in 10th and 22 as my age.

dear friend,

Eligibility norm for the Merchant Navy:-

1)Candidate should have Indian nationality.

2)Their age must be between 18-42 yrs on 25.02.11

3)should have Graduate from any recognize university.

4)The employed person who is working in central govt. /own business/private sector/semi govt. must have Pay and allowances and privileges.

For Merchant Navy the Selection Procedure:-

1. Preliminary Interview Boards held at respective TA Group Headquarters .

2. SSB Interview

3. Medical & Police Verification.

In order to join Merchant Navy in the General Purpose rating, you will need to undergo a pre-sea training and to be eligible for that, you just need to score 40% marks in your secondary examination and must have obtained the minimum qualifying marks/pass marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

The age limit to apply for the pre-sea training is between 17 1/2 years-25 years.

Institutes from where you may pursue the pre-sea training are:

Orissa Maritime Academy
Maritime Education Training & Research Institute
Asha Institute of Marine Technology
Doon Mariners academy
International Maritime Academy
NUSI Maritime Academy
