The cutoff for CIVIL (General catagory) is about 30% (from an unofficial source) but scoring that much means u will only get a call for the personality test(interview) which is 200 marks.. and u have to perform extraordinarily good in that, which is unpredictable. So target for more (50% to 60%), then only u can get a respectable score.. a score above 450 in civil will give u a very good chance (unless u screw up badly in the PT,, LOL). the cut off for branches other than CIVIL are bit higher (same scenerio as in GATE) For preparing, select a few subjects u think u r good at for serious study .. but don't ignore the other subjects and practice some previous questions.. the problem with IES is that the syllabus is HUGE... and there are conventional papers too.. so only good concept will not be enough (unlike GATE) and u have got some hard days and nights of studies ahead.. .....GOOD LUCK... Re: Cut off mark for Civil Engineer in IES Exam? i see that the cut offs r between 400 t0 500 out of 1200 in ies(civil) which is less than 50%, are these exams so difficult? hows the standard of valuation in descriptive type papers? does UPSC publish model answers for students to know the standard of writing answers in discriptive papers? |
