Re: Career options after ME in PG Marine Engineering mechanical engineer or marine engineer have a good shot at merchant navy as a profession, the job pay very well...you get to travel to new places around the world...and you could even get your family onboard...the best part is the promotions...there is no buttering or politics involved like the corporate world...its a clear profession where u sail, clear ur exams and get promoted...at the age of 33yrs you could become a chief engineer and head the ship...there is a website called 83knots.com...quite helpful,,...has a lot of details about this profession. |

Re: Career options after ME in PG Marine Engineering Mechanical engineer as well as marine engineer have very bright prospects of getting into the profession of merchant navy, the job pays well, you get to travel on companys expense...you could also get your family onboard...you could find more details about the profession on 83knots.com, this site was really helpful...has a lot of info on merchant navy as a career and latest updates of the industry |

Re: Career options after ME in PG Marine Engineering i have been searching to join a ship as cadet after completing my b tech in marine mechanical engineering 2 yrs back.i have 1 year sailing experience though i didnt receive my watch keeping certificate.now its been 1 year since i am jobless.i've contacted so many but with no success.if anybody knows about an opening please inform me.my id is [email protected] you. |

Re: Career options after ME in PG Marine Engineering Hello Mr. amarjit actually chief engineers onboard a foreign going vessel normally earns around Rs.5,00,000 per month and in some companies they earn much more than that. Y am saying this to u is coz in an area u mentioned that chief engineers can earn upto 1,85,000 only. am working onboard as 3r engineer and am getting 1,85,000 per month. it doesnt mean that u will get more pay if u do a pg in marine engineering degree. for example, if u do HND - Marine engineering or B.E. Marine Engineering or a pg diploma in marine engineering or a graduate in marine engineering.... u will be joining as a cadet only, then its ur talent to get ur licence... good to do the course in reputed colleges ... This field is one in which u will always have an oppurtunity. All the best for the freshers and people who are willing to take up a marine engineering course. BRGDS Aravind. |

You can join in the cargo department and the navy cadet departments as well. It is one of the most prestigious career and the salary package in this field is very high than other courses. Many private renowned companies recruit marine engineers giving high pay packages.. After doing higher studies in this field,you can the reputed posts in the marine engineers sector. So go for it.
