Hi.

IPS (Indian Police Service) the exam is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) once in a year.

Eligibility Criteria :
* The candidate should be complete graduation from a recognised university.
* Final year candidates are also eligible.
* Age limits is 21 years to 30 years, 3 years age relaxation for the OBC candidates, 5 years age relaxation for the SC/ST candidates.
* Candidate should be a citizen of india.

Here are the optional subjects for civil services main examination.

Agriculture,
Animal husbandy,
Botany,
Chemistry,
Civil engineering commerce and accountany,
Economics,
Geography,
Geology,
Indian history,
Management,
Mechanical engineering,
Philosophy,
Medical science,
Physics,
Political science and international relationals,

Aptitude.

IPS stands for Indian Police Service. In order to be placed in IPS, one should have to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).

The complete selection procedure for this is by
-Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)
-Civil Services Main Examination
-Interview

There will be questions from the following categories in CSAT Exam.
-General English
-General Awareness
-Aptitude

For Civil Services Main Examination, you have to opt for 2 optional subjects while registering and the question for you for this exam are only from your chosen subjects.

I suggest you to opt for the optional subjects which you have gone through in your previous academic levels and in which you have profound interest to prepare for this exam.
