The common eligibility criteria of the IAS exam is as follows, Candidate should be Indian citizen. Age limit should be 21-30 years as on 01.07.2012. Upper age limit relaxation is there for SC/ST, OBC candidates. Bachelors degree from a recognized university. Four attempts for the IAS exam is possible. How To Apply: You can apply for the examination through online application form which is available on website http://www.upsconline.nic.in .Detailed instruction provided on website when you fill the application form. Examination: Following two levels of examination conducted for IAS selection, Preliminary exam Main exam You must clear the preliminary exam then only you can appear for the Main exam.The negative mark for the Preliminary exam is0.33 mark.Prepare well for the exam. ELIGIBILITY: Candidate should complete graduation in any stream from recognized university Age limit for this exam is 21-30 years. 3 years age relaxation for OBC candidates 5 years age relaxation for SC/ST candidates. IAS - INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE, to become an IAS officer one has to appear and crack Civil Service Examination. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CIVIL SERVICE EXAM:- -The candidate must be an Indian National -Should have either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education from a recognised University -Should be within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidate up to 5 years and for OBC candidate up to 3 years. Re: Can commerce students give the IAS exam paper? COMMERCE GRADUATE IS VERY MUCH ELIGIBLE. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR IAS 1. GRADUATION IN ANY DISCIPLINE FROM RECOGNIZED UNIVERSITY. 2. AGE SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 30 YRS. (RELAXATION FOR SC/ST/OBC) Number of attempts: 4 attempts for General category candidates. 7 attempts for Obc category candidates 14 attempts for SC/ST category candidates. There are 3 stages in IAS that should be cleared by the candidate. STAGE I ---- Preliminary exam (OBJECTIVE TYPE) STAGE II----- Main exam (DESCRIPTIVE TYPE) STAGE III---- Personal interview Clearing one will get you to another level exam.
