Indian Air Force Indian Air Force is one the Supreme Defence Services in India. For joining Indian Air Force female candidate have to qualify Combined Defence Services Exam. CDS exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission 2 times in a year. April and October. Another way to join Indian Air Force is through AFCAT. AFCAT entry is for technical graduates. Both male and female candidates can join Indian Air Force( Technical Branch) after their engineering (Btech and BE). Mainly there are two branches for which the student can apply for after his Btech or BE. The first one is Aeronautical Engineering Electronics branch and the other one is the Aeronautical Engineering Mechanical branch. The Electronics branch deals with signal and communication stuff while the Mechanical branch has to take care of the maintenance, servicing and other engine related tasks. Eligibility criteria for joining the Indian Air Force: Age: 18 to 28 years (At the time of commencement of training) Branches in Btech / BE: Electronics,Tele-communication, Electrical, Electrical Communication, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, Computer Science & Engineering Salary Range: approx. 17000 along with benefits and various allowances. Percentage in Btech / BE: 60% or above Time for Recruitment Notice: Twice in a year (around March and September). There are various field for Air force like Technical,Flying,Ground duty For technical candidate must be an Engineering background For Flying branch candidate must 12th pass and Diploma in this subject or PILOT For grounds duty candidate pass graaduation or 10th pass. Re: Procedure for girls to join Indian Air Force? Hi. IAF has got a lot of fields locally in it, like the flying staff, the technical staff, the ground staff. So it depends which area you are interested in. To become a part of the flying staff, a candidate must be a 10+2 pass, or science graduate, or an engineering or higher qualification. To become a member of the ground staff, only 10+2 pass would do but in science stream. You may sit for the CDS exam conducted by the UPSC, ever year to recruit candidates for Air Force You may apply for this exam online here : UPSC Your age should not be more than 25 years, and you should also match physical standards which would be mentioned in the information brochure.
