THere are various books available in market for UPSC,SSC,etc,,..

The thing you have to find out is not a good author,find our good training institude.

Because IPS exam is a tuff competitve exam and it will be written by more than 10lakhs aspirants throughout our country..


If this is your first attempt,atttempt it bravely,,..

After knowing the queastion pattern everything study by proper guideness....

The Preliminary Examination
The Main Examination.
Preliminary Exam comprises multiple choice questions and is also a qualifying exam for appearing into second exam.
Main Examination which comprises a written exam and an interview.
Books to prepare for the exams are::
For ‘General Knowledge’, you must read ‘Competition Success Review” and collect facts.
For ‘General Studies’ read political and business magazines.
For ‘current affairs’ you will require reading newspapers .

Exam Pattern :

Civil Services conducted by UPSC comprises of two successive stages:

Preliminary Examination: It is of objective type.
Main Examination: written examination and interview.

The Preliminary Examination is held in May/June and the Main Examination in October/November.

Books to prepare for prelims are ::







For ‘General Studies’ read political and business magazines as much as you can but within limit.

For ‘optional subject paper’, the most important thing is that you choose a subject about which you are very much confident.

For IPS exam you should read newspaper daily and you should be aware about the current affairs

you can read India today and CSR for more updates

CSR publishes special book for the preparation of IPS which is good

verbal and non -verbal reasoning by R.S.aggarwal is also a good book
