Re: Can I appear for GATE Exam in the second year of B.Tech? you are in 2nd year of your B.TECH then you can not appear for this year GATE examination. The rule is no PRE-FINAL YEAR students are allowed for GATE. So you can not sit for GATE this year. But you can start your preparation from right now. Eligibility for GATE exam:- 1.One must have complete the bachelor degree in the fields like Engineering/Technology/architecture.. Or, 2.One must have complete the master degree in the fields like- M.Sc/MCA/MBA.. 3.One can appear in GATE exam during the pre-final year or final year of your graduation or post graduation course.. 4.There is no age limit. 5.No number of attempt restriction. As you are in 2nd year of your B.tech course then you are not eligible for GATE exam.. You can appear in GATE exam next year when you will be in 3rd year.. |

Re: Can I appear for GATE Exam in the second year of B.Tech? Dear friend, Till the last year i.e. GATE 2011 even the 3rd year candidates were allowed to appear in the exam. But from the next GATE (i.e. to be held on 2012) only the final year students are able to appear. It has become a mandatory rule. The 3rd year students are not even allowed to sit for the exam. So, you have to wait till your final year as per the rules. Thank you. |

Sorry to say that 2 nd year student are not eligible for GATE exam. 3rd and 4th year student are eligible for GATE exam. Because GATE score is valid for two years. You can apply here maximum times because GATE exam have no age criteria. Thanks |
