good eve.
as i am having 10th 12 and direct M.A in sociology from annamalai university in the yr 2005 ( corespondence course) after that m.phil in sociology in the yr. 2007 with the same university (corespondence course) after that i have completed my ug in social science from m.k university on 2013. my age is 40. caste and religion is christian reddy. am i eligible to appear for the tnpsc exams. kindly guide me.

TNPSC Stands for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

To ensure yourself that you are eligible for TNPSC Exam or not , i request you to consider the below mentioned carefully and if you fulfill the below mentioned carefully then you are absolutely eligible.

The Eligibility Criteria for TNPSC Examination are :

* Educational Qualification : Graduation in any discipline from any recognized college/university.

* Age Limit : 21-30 years.

* Age Relaxation :

a) OBC Candidates : 3 years

b) SC/ST Candidates : 5 years.

* 15% of the total seats are reserved for Reserved Category Candidates /Handicapped Candidates already.

* You must be a citizen of India.

TNPSC stands for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission board. The exam questions will be objective type related from General Knowledge (S.S.L.C Standard) & General Tamil / General English (S.S.L.C. Standard)
There are total 200 question in this exam 300 marks and 3 hours duration are set for this TNPSC Group 4 exam. Candidates are noted that the 90 marks are the qualifying marks for selection.

Eligibility:
Degree in natural science; Mathematics,statistic
Geology; Mechanical Engineering; Civil servicing
Chemical engineering


Age must be between 19 to 24 years

Exam Pattern:

It comprises two successive stages:
1.Prilimanary Examination
2.Main Examination


Subjects for Examination:

Compulsory subjects--

General Knowledge
Maths
English essay

Optional Subject is Botany.

It was earlier known as 'Madras Public Service Commission' but when the name of the state was changed to TamilNadu, it became Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). You can appear in TNPSC Exams and as you have mentioned that you are from Computer Science field, there are many options available in TNPSC.

Hello Arun you can appear for group-1 & 2 of TNPSC.

Group-1 consists of mainly executive posts like executive enginers,collectors etc.
Group-2 consists of mainly posts like junior engineers,municiple commissioner,sub-megistrate etc.

However,date for registration of group-2 are over,you can register for group-2 online from its official website-http://www.tnpsconline.tn.nic.in

The last date for online registration is 27.01.2010.

Hello sir,
This is Rekha, I have completed B.Tech(IT) in the yr 2006 , my age is 28, Am I eligible for applying TNPSC exam.But I went to the TNPSC website, I could not find the option to apply in my stream , but there was an option for "Ass.Tester", which is relavant to my field, but it has only B.E(ECE &EEE) as the stream.So pls reply which post am i eligible to apply.

Yes you are eligible for TNPSC Exam.

The Application forms will be available at all Head Post Offices and Selected Sub-Post Offices in Tamil Nadu/Puducherry and also from TNPSC Office Sales Counter.

you can also apply online through the website www.tnpsc.gov.in.

There are many exams conducted by the TNPSC board based on the Groups.Since your a graduate your eligible for almost all of the exams conducted by the TNPSC like Motor Inspector,Executive Officer,Drug Inspector..etc.

Since your from M.Sc background you are not eligible for some the exams like Assistant Surgeon.

You need to be strong in your basic part,so first download the syllabus for the exam for your preparing.Refer books of Goyal Brothers for both History&Civics and Geography.For current affairs reading newspapers like "The Hindu" is more than enough.Books of Tata McGraw Hill, Pierson Publications can solve your general knowledge part.

Academic Qualifications - Degree

Age - 21-28 years.
33 years (For SC/ST/BC).

General Eligibility Conditions

A Candidate must satisfy the Commission on the following aspects :–
Citizenship that he is -

a Citizen of India; or
a subject of Nepal or Bhutan; or
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
A person of Indian Origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tankanika and Zanzibar) Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia with the intention of permanently settling in India.
A Candidate belonging to categories (iii) or (iv) or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan should also obtain a certificate of eligibility given by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary will be admitted to an examination or interview and he will provisionally be appointed subject to the necessary certificate being given to him by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Character And Antecedents - that his character and antecedents are such as to qualify him for the appointment;
Bigamy - that he does not have more than one living wife or if such person is a woman, she is not married to any person who has a wife living; and
Candidates In Union/State Government Service that on the date of notification/advertisement for the purpose of direct recruitment he was not in the service of the Indian Union or of a State in India.
Note : - For the purpose of this clause a person will be deemed to be not in the service of the Indian Union or of a State in India.
If a period of five years has not elapsed since his first appointment to a service of the Indian Union or of a State in India.
If he belongs to one of the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or to one of the MBC/DC and Backward Classes.
Sound Health Etc. - A candidate must satisfy the appointing authority that he is of sound health, active habits and free from any bodily defect or infirmity unfitting him for the appointment.
