The age limit for IES exam is that the candidate should be not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years as on August 1st on year of conduct of examination . However the upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be raised. Since your birthday is on 6th July, that means you are eligible for the exam at the age of 21. Other than the age requirements you also have to fulfill the educational qualifications for IES. These are:- 1)You should have completed your BE/BTech in one of the following streams: i)Mechanical engineering ii)Civil engineering iii)Electrical engineering iv)Electronics and communication engineering OR 2)M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also acceptable for certain posts. NOTE-tudents of final year Engineering or equivalent degree are also eligible. Hope you satisfy the criteria.... best of luck!!! |

Dear There , You can absolutely eligible for application to IES exam if your age is 21 years because as per the eligibility criteria you have the age what is required by a student for IES exam. * But at the same time you must have completed your engineering degree from any recognized college / university from one of these streams : - Civil Engineering - Mechanical Engineering - Electrical & Electronics Engineering - Electrical & Communication Engineering * Hope you fulfill all the criteria and are eligible for the same. Re: Can I apply for IES exam at an age of 21?  Yes my friend, You are eligible as far as the Age Criteria is concerned. But you should also be having a Graduate degree in any of the following: 1. Civil Engineering 2. Mechanical Engineering 3. Electrical Engineering 4. Electronics and Communication Engineering. If you have a B.Tech/B.E. in any one of the mentioned above then you are eligible else if I am afraid you will be ineligible. |

Age Limits : Not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years as on August 1st on year of conduct of examination ( upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs,OBCs and certain others ) How to Apply : UPSC applications are available for Rs. 20/- at notified post offices all over the country. Rs. 100/- (rupees one hundred only) through central Recruitment Fee Stamp only shall be attached. There is a fee exemption for SC/ST/Female/PH candidates. Please mark exam code as ENGG and not as IES. IES means Indian Economic service. Be careful in this aspect. Last date for application : Usually in the first week of March in year of conduct of examination (offline) Applications can be made online also.
