VAO Exam Eligibility Criteria:-

Tamilnadu Public Service Commission conducts an examination to recruit officers for the post of Village Administrative Officers. Notifications for this exam is published in two parts:- One for the SC/ST candidates and the second one for all the other category candidates.
You need a secondary school leaving certificate to sit for this exam. To be more precise you just need to be a 10th pass out as that is the minimum qualification required for giving this exam.
Your age should vary between 21 and 30 years when applying for this exam. For reserved category candidates however there is age relaxation. For them the upper age limit is 40 years.
You will be posted in the villages of Tamilnadu on getting selected. So proficiency in Tamil language is required.
If you do not know Tamil then on getting selected you need to sit for Tamil language exam which is again conducted by the TNPSC and pass in it.
Medical certificates needs to be produced before the authorities concerned during exam time to prove your medical fitness.
Written exam though is the primary thing which is taken into consideration when selecting deserving candidates but other thing which also gets importance are the district chosen by you and the number of reservations of the district in question.
There will be two papers to solve. General Knowledge and General English/General Tamil. Questions for the exam will be of S.S.L.C. standard. 300 marks have been allotted and you will get 3 hours to complete the whole paper.
Do remember that the second paper is optional and which paper you want to attempt needs to be specified in the application form itself. The first paper can be written either in English or Tamil.
For general category candidates the cost of the application form is Rs. 125 and for reserved category candidates is Rs. 50.
