Sir I would like to serve the INDIAN AIR FORCE .My educational qualification is currently pursuing my third year diploma in Aeronautical Engg .So please help me in guiding in joining IAF as Pilot or Airmen .

IAF Stands for Indian Air Force conducted by UPSC every Year.


Eligibility and Criteria:
  • A candidate who have completed their Graduation Degree with at least 55% from recognized Universities are eligible for Air Force.
  • A candidate age should not exist 30 years. Relaxation is available for OBC and SC/ST category.

For joining IAF you have to go for Entrance examination for Air force Conducted every year.
This year date was 9-12 july 2012 is already close so, apply for it Next time.

One can join the Indian Air Force in the flying, technical or the ground duty branches depending on his/her educational qualification.

For Intermediate (10+2)

There is a golden opportunity for young aspirants having +2 (Science) qualification with Physics and Maths to join as officer in Indian Air Force. The aspirant can literally touch the sky by joining the Air Force, not to mention that you'll be inside a supersonic jet, going at an incredible speed while doing that. Apart from the thrill and adventure, Air Force offers a fulfilling career for life to young and energetic men individuals.

The aspirant can join NDA by taking the exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India.

For Graduate

Air Force invites young, enthusiastic and committed, men and women, to lead and manage as officers. Candidates short-listed after the initial selection procedure, go through a rigorous training regimen at one of the Air Force training establishments. Thereafter, they are commissioned as officers and posted at any of the Air Force Stations.

As a graduate, you can fly into a challenging and rewarding career in the Air Force by applying for the suitable branch. The advertisement for the recruitment of graduates in Air Force is published in the employment news and other leading national news papers from time to time.

For Engineer

The Indian Air Force calls for enthusiastic and committed engineers to become a part of the Indian Air Force team. Candidates short-listed after the initial selection procedure, go through a rigorous training regimen at one of the Air Force training establishments. Thereafter, they are commissioned as officers and embark on a glorious and fulfilling career.

As an Engineer, you can soar into a rewarding and challenging career in the Indian Air Force. You can even join the Technical Branch in your final or pre-final year of engineering through the University Entry Scheme.

Age Limit
For Officer:

16 ½ to 19 years (candidates applying for NDA)

19 to 23 years (for graduate individuals in flying branch)

18 to 28 years (for graduate individuals in technical branch)

20 to 23 years (for graduate individuals in ground duty branches)

19 to 23 years (for engineering graduates in flying branch)

18 to 28 years (for engineering graduates in technical branch)

20 to 25 years (for engineering graduates in ground duty branches)

18 to 28 years (for post-graduate individuals in technical branch)

20 to 25 years (for post-graduate individuals in ground duty branches)


For Airmen:

16-20 years (positions available for candidates with matriculation or below)

16-22 years (positions available for candidates with intermediate qualification)

16-22 years (positions available for candidates with diploma qualification)

20-25 years (positions available for graduate individuals)

20-28 years (positions available for post-graduate individuals)

Sex: Male/Female (Depending upon the type of job)

There are 2 entry schemes for you through which you can apply for the Indian Air force. These entry schemes are:

AIR FORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST(AFCAT)

COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION(CDSE)

The CDSE examination is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year for the selection of candidate as an officer in Indian Air force, Army and Navy and the AFCAT examination is conducted by the Indian Air force for the selection of candidate in various branches of Indian Air force such as

FLYING BRANCH

TECHNICAL BRANCH and

GROUND DUTY BRANCH

Education Qualification for CDSE
* Graduate in any discipline from the recognized university.
* Those appeared in the final year are also eligible.
* Candidate applying for the Indian Air force and Navy should have physics
and maths at 10+2

IFS (Indian Forest Service )


1. Minimum Educational Qualification :

-Graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks from recognized university.
-Must have studied Physics and Mathematics in the 12th standard.

2. Age Limit :

* Minimum Age :- 21 as on 1st August during which they will write Exam.

* Maximum Age: 30 for GEN,
33 for OBC and
35 for SC.

3. Number of attempts :

* General Candidates -> 4

* OBC -> 7

* SC/ST -> No Limit

Being a girl candidate and having done Bachelor of Science in Biology, you may apply for the Flying Branch (Short Service Commission) of Indian Air Force. To be considered eligible for the same, you must fulfill the following criteria:

Academic Qualification:
  • Graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • Must have studied Physics and Mathematics in the higher secondary level.

Age Limit:
  • Minimum eligible age:19 years
  • Maximum age limit:23 years

Once you fulfill the aforementioned eligibility criteria, you will have to take Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) conducted by Air Force Selection Board twice a year. The notification for the same is published in the month of June and December every year and in order to keep yourself updated, refer to the official website of Indian Air Force.
