Hello friend,
CPT stands for Common Proficiency Test and this Examination is conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountant of India .
This exam is held twice a year in the month of June and December.The next CPT exam December 2012 is to be held on Sunday,16th December2012.

you must pass 10+2 to eligible for this exam, you may also have any kind of degree from recognized university to eligible for this exam.

There are two section
Section I- Fundamentals Of Accounting
Mercantile Laws
Section II- General Economics
Quantative Aptitude

The test comprise of a total of 200 marks, out of which, you need to score a minimum of 100 marks.
You will be required to score a minimum of 30% marks in each section and 50% in overall aggregade.

There are Negative Mark-0.25.

The minimum marks required for CPT is 50% i.e 100 out of 200.

The Competence Proficiency Test (CPT) is the first step to become a Chartered Accountant.

The is only one paper in the test conducted in two session.

The first session includes two sections

Section A: Fundamentals of Accounting (60 marks)
Section B: Mercantile Laws (40 marks)

The second session includes two sections

Session C: General Economics (50 marks)
Session D: Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks)

Total : 200 marks.

The criteria to qualify the CPT is as under,

- Minimum 30% marks in each section.
- Minimum 50% marks in aggregate taking all the four sections together.

The detailed syllabus of the test has been attached with this message.
