To become astronaut you will have to do PhD first.

The role of astronaut is not just to travel into space and dance around in zero gravity.

It is far more complex. Astronauts brings important parts of the International Space Station for maintanence(ISSM). They also have to do repair work for the Hubble Telescope.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*****PROCEDURE*****!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

***Complete 12th standard with PCM as the subjects.***

***Apply for graduation in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, biology or the Bachelor of Technology coures(B.TECH).***

***After completing graduation you will have to opt for post graduation and then PhD.***

***Next you will need 3 years of related and progressively experience.***

***When all the above steps are done you can apply for the NASA exam for Scientist and Astronauts.***

Once selected through the exam you will be trained to become Mission Specialist.

*****Unfortunately you can not get pilot job in NASA.*****

***** According to the rules of NASA only US citizens are eligible to apply for spaceship pilot job.*****

However you should know that the role of Mission Specialist is also very critical.

hi,
Becoming an astronaut is quite a lengthy process. It would take at least 15 years after completing 12th to become astronaut. You should also know that you can't become astronaut in India because Indian Space Research Organization is not sending man to space, at least for now. Your only hope is NASA. You can become astronaut with NASA just like Sunita Willimans and Kalpna Chawla.

For next few months of possible a year, you will receive training to work around in zero gravity of the space. Some of the training would include Aircraft weightless training lessons, Shuttle Mission Simulator etc. Once you have completed all the training, you will be on your way to space.
