GATE Mechanical Engineering Exam - Download Previous Years Question Papers The GATE is conducted every year for those students who want to carry on with their studies after B.Tech and want to do Master’s in their respective streams. Through GATE students can get admission at IISc Bangalore, IITs, Jadavpur University, and NITs etc. under M.Tech courses in respective fields of engineering. The Mechanical Engineering paper of GATE has 65 questions which are to be answered in 3 hours time. Each question has 4 options of which only one is correct. For every wrong some marks will be deducted from the candidate’s total score. Generally one third and two third marks are dedicated for wrong answers.
