Re: Am i eligible for IPS after having an eye sight of -8.5 If your eyesight is 6/6 after wearing glasses then you are eligible for IPS post. You must not have color blindness if you want to apply for IPS examination. The other requirements for IPS are as follows: -You must have a Graduation Degree from a recognized university. -Age should be between 21 to 30 years if you are General Category candidate. -There is age relaxation available for other categories based on government rules. -The number of attempts of IPS exam will be as follows: General Category- 4 attempts OBC Category- 7 attempts SC/ST Category- No limit The selection as an IPS officer will depend upon your performance in the following tests: -Civil Services Aptitude Test -Civil Services Mains Exam -Personal Interview If you score good marks in above exams and you are high on merit then you can become a IPS officer. Entrance exam is conducted by the union public service commission under the civil services examination every year once. Eligibility Criteria : Candidate must completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university. Candidate age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate. Eye sight – 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic. Nasal- candidate should not stammer while speaking. For Details : www.upsc.gov.in Cool.... |

Dear friend if your eye-sight is -8.5 then you are not eligible for the IPS branch. As it requires 6/6 or 6/9 vision so you can not apply for it. One very good solution for you which i personally want to suggest is that you go for the LASIK treatment for your eyes. |

Height :- For Male candidate :- Your height should be 165 cm For Female candidate :- Your height shoul be 150cm Relaxation will applicable for SC/ST and OBC candidates , Male :- 160cm / Female :- 145cm . Chest :- For Male candidates :- 84cm and in Expansion :- + 5cm For Female candidates :- 79 cm and in Expansion :- +5cm. Weight :- You should be Physically as well as mentally for fit for the IPS Examination You should have capable to run 10kms in 60mins as welll as rope climbing etc.. It denotes that your physically fit For Getting into the Civil Service like IPS is a tough Task.Every Year Lakhs of Candidates appears for a limited number of seats even though,most of the candidates appearing for the IPS examination are well-aware of the what to learn for the examination, most of them find it difficult to present the know Information in Paper . The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years. Also you must be citizen of India. Preliminary Exam Pattern:-  Pattern for Mains Exam:-  Physical fitness criteria for IPS exam- Height, Weight and chest for IPS exam-  Eye sight – 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic. Blood pressure (High) – Age 23 – 123, age 24 – 124, age 25 –122, age 28 – 124, age 30 –125, age 32 – 126, age 34 – 127. Ear- good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment should not be more than 30 decibels. Nasal- candidate should not stammer while speaking. #### From my point view you are not applicable for IPS exam because of your eye-sight problem.
