In order to become Chartered Accountant you need to clear the 12th board. Once you have completed 12th, apply for the Chartered Accountancy course.

To begin you need to register for the Common Proficiency Test. This is the first step of Chartered Accountancy course. Although you can register for CPT after completing 10th, you are only eligible to appear for the test upon passing 12th board.

There are 4 subjects in the Common Proficiency Test that are divided into 2 groups. You need to score at least 30 percent marks in each group to clear the exam. Below are the subjects.

1. Fundamentals of Accountancy
2. Economics
3. Mercantile Law
4. Quantitative Aptitude

Integrated Professional Competancy Course

Next stage is known as Integrated Professional Competancy Course. There are two ways to take admission for IPCC. You can do it by clearing Common Proficiency Test or it can be done after graduation.

Commerce graduates need 55 percent marks to skip CPT exam and take direct admission into the IPCC. While non-commerce graduates need to score at least 60 percent marks for direct admission.

Group 1

1. Accounting

2. Business Laws,Ethics and Communication

3. Cost Accounting and Financial Management

4. Taxation

Group 2

5. Advanced Accounting

6. Auditing and Assurance

7. Information Technology and Strategic Management

Final Course

The last and most difficult stage known as Final Course comes after you have cleared the IPCC.

Group 1

1. Financial Reporting

2. Strategic Financial Management

3. Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics

4. Corporate and Allied Laws

Group 2

5. Advanced Management Accounting

6. Information System control and Audit

7. Direct Tax Laws

8. indirect tax Laws
