Re: Which books should I refer for GK Questions and Essay writing for Bank Exams?

As the GK is very vast & no one can get the perfect knowledge from the books only so you have to daily keep in touch with the newspapers, magazines & T.V channels for the latest updates. But for more you can get in touch with the books as under-

1.current affaires by R.S agarwal
2.current affaires by kamal hussian.
3.current affairs by g.k publishers.
4.current affairs book by chaya prakasani.
5. pratiyogita darpan
6. Banking service chronical
7. Pratoyigat kiran
8. Arihant monthly magazine.
9. Times of India
10. Outlook

"The Economist" is the best magazine to get you the complete knowledge about sebi, monetary fund , nse,bse etc.So its better to get a subscription copy of it as early as possible.

Re: Which books should I refer for GK Questions and Essay writing for Bank Exams?

For most of the bank PO Exams and Management Trainee Exams, the selection procedure is by

-Written test
-Interview.

The written test consitsts of questions from several categories like
-Reasoning
-Quantitative aptitude
-General Awareness
-Computer Awareness
-General English

In addition, there is a descriptive test. In most cases, the negative marking is 0.25 in the sense for every 4 wrong answers, 1 mark from the marks which you actually scored is deducted.

As far as the general awareness is concerned, one should have to prepare the follwoing aspects of previous 6 months prior to the exam
-national affairs
-bilateral affairs
-international affairs
-persons in news
-persons in place
-books and authors
-sports

I will suggest you two books. Prepare them well which will help you to attempt almost all questions in bank exam under general awareness. They are
-YES Publications of current affairs
-Magazines of Mahindra for current affairs of every month

There is no essay writing in bank exams but instead there is a descriptive exam in which three questions will be given. The candidate has to answer all the 3 questions. For every question, there is a internal choice.
