Prelims ( Objective Type Paper) General Studies paper - 300 Marks (0.25 negative marking) 2. Main Exam - Objective Type (0.25 negative marking) Paper I Languages - 200 Marks English - 70 Marks Marathi - 130 Marks Paper II GS - 200 marks General Studies - 130 marks Intelligence Test - 70 marks Total - 400 Marks 3. The total number of questions will be 60 carrying 1 marks each. Part B- Questions will be based on Physics, Mathematics,Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Chemistry of bachelor's level. The total number of questions will be 60 carrying 3 marks each. Each wrong answer in Part A will result in deduction of half marks whereas, 1 marks will be deducted for eac wrong answer in Part B. The duration of the examination will be 3 hours. |

In most of the reputed colleges candidates are selected after carrying out an entrance exam. The syllabus for PGCET for Biotechnology is cell biology, flora, fauna and medical biotechnology, genetics and microbiology etc. There are many reference text books for Biotechnology from different authors like B.D Singh, Dubey, Satyanarana, Pelzar etc. Please visit the official website for more information. |

Methods of microbiology including pure culture techniques and microscopy, industrially important micro organisms and important fermentation products. Media formulation principles of microbial nutrition, construction of culture media. Unit- II Isolation, improvement and preservation of industrial micro-organisms. Microbial Genetics: Transformation, Transduction and Conjugation, Structure and Classification of viruses, replication of viruses including bacteriophages and animal viruses. Unit-III Structure of DNA and arrangement of genes on chromosomes, DNA synthesis and replication, RNAsyntheses and processing, Different classes of RNA and their functions, Riboxymes, Protein expression in prokaryotes and Pukarytes.
