Hi,
Diploma Engineers can not join
IAF in officer rank.
However opportunities are there
in other ranks below officer rank
Which known as "Airmen"
there two categories in it
1) Technical Trade X group and
2) Non Technical trade Y group.
So you can enter through X
group, in technical domain as
you have technical background.
1) Technical Trade X group :-
Eligibility: Candidate must have
passed 3 year Diploma
engineering with at least 50%
aggregate including all
semesters.
Age Limit: 21 years before
commencement of training.
I will suggest you that you
should join air force after
completing your degree.
Because degree in engineering
will provide you better posts like
officer rank which are having
more powers.
If you join air force at this step
you will get lower post and to
get higher posts you have to
waste more than 10 to 15 years .
But these posts you will get you
with only 3 years of degree.
To join the air force and then you
need to appear for this
examination :-
Combined Defence Service
Examination
Flying Branch examination
Technical Examination
Ground Duty Examination
Eligibility Criteria for C.D.S
examination :-
The candidate must be citizen of
India and only unmarried male
candidates are eligible to apply
for this examination.The
candidate age limits for Air force
in C.D.S examination is 19 year to
23 years at the time of appearing
for this examination.The
candidate must have a completed
degree from a recognized
University or equivalent
qualification with physics and
mathematics at 12th level
examination Or Bachelor's of
engineering degree.
C.D.S exam notification was
already out and if you are
interested apply for this
examination.
Note :- Last date for receipt of
application :- 28/11/11 and date
of examination :- 12/02/12

After Matriculation , You have join in Diploma course so don't worry you are applicable for Indian Air force Exam. But you must be final year or Pass out from diploma course.

Here this Diploma Course is Equivalent to 12th standard board. You can apply Indian Air force Exam through NDA exam. This Exam is conducted by UPSC two times in a year.

NDA stand for National Defence Service Exam. This exam is conduct twice time in a year.

But your age should be in between 16.5 to 19 years.there is no age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidate.

Only unmarried male candidate are applicable for NDA exam. You must have citizenship of India.

You can definitely apply for positions in Indian Air force after completing diploma. You should be an unmarried male candidate. You should be between 16.5-19 years to apply in Air force. You should attend the NDA exam which is conducted by UPSC as part of this. If you qualify in NDA exam, you will be called for physical test and personal interview.
