Dear Friend,

if you have completed your M.Com , then it will not sure that you will become eligible for the IES Exam.

There are some criteria that if you fulfill only then you will be eligible for the IES Exam.

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Services.

This Exam is conducted every eyar by the Union Public Service Commission .

The Eligibility Criteria for IES Exam are :

* you should have completed your B.Tech from any one of the following streams :

a) Mechanical Engineering

b) Civil Engineering

c) Electronics & Communication Engineering

d) Electronics & Electrical Engineering

* your age must lie in between 21-30 years.

* Relaxation in age is also provided to Reserved Category Candidates as per the Govt. Rules.

So , from the above mentioned you can see that you are not eligible for the IES Exam.

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.

According to your qualification it is clear that you are asking about Indian Economic Services exam. There is also Indian Engineering Services exam which has confused some people here. I think you are asking about Indian Economic Services exam.

IES is Indian Economic Services exam and is conducted for Post graduate students who have pass their post graduation with Economics and Statistics .

You have done Post graduation in commerce and if you have studied these subjects then surely you can apply for this exam.

For more information regarding this exam you can check the official notification of IES ISS exam . Please click on the following link:

IES - Indian Engineering Service and Indian Economics Service both conducted by UPSC once every year.

Indian Engineering Service is only meant for Graduate Engineers and as per your qualification you will not be eligible for this.

Indian Economics Service - The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having Post Graduation Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years is eligible to apply for IES.

Dear,

IES stands for Indian engineering services. It is a pure technical exam which is considered to be the toughest for engineers. After qualifying this exam engineering students gets government job with high salary and designation.

To write this exam you need to have B.tech degree in any of the following branches:
  • Mechanical
  • Civil
  • Electronics
  • Electrical and telecommunication

Since you are a M.com graduate and your field is completely commerce you are not eligible to write this exam.

You can search some competitive exams of your field. You can even look for some qualification after M.com like:
  1. MBA
  2. CA
  3. CFA

Also you can write for government jobs like:
  1. UPSC
  2. Railways
  3. Bank PO
  4. Indian Administrative services
  5. State PSC

Best of luck!

Re: How can I apply for IES if I am a M.Com graduate

You simply can not apply for the IES. The IES stands for Indian Engineering Service. Only those candidates who have completed B.Tech can apply for the Indian Engineering Service. This rules out the possibility of you applying for the exam.

M.Com degree is not sufficient to apply for Indian Engineering Service. The IES exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on the yearly basis. The candidates are recruited for the various central government departments. Some examples are:

Central Engineering Service

Indian Railway Service of Engineers

Indian Ordance Factories Services

Indian Defence Service of Engineers

Railway Store Services

Eligibility

1. You should be Indian citizen to apply for IES.

2. A B.Tech degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics and Communication Engineering.

3. The age limit is 21 to 30 years as on August 1 of examination year.

4. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

5. SC/ST are given 5 years relaxation.
