There is no specific exam as IAS exam, to become an IAS(Indian Administrative Officer) officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC twice every year to join Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wing of NDA.

The eligible candidate must be an unmarried Indian Male having either appear for the final 12th exam or pass in any stream from a recognised Board within the age of 16.5 to 19 years with good Physical Fitness.

  • Minimum Academic qualification required for IAS Exam

In order to take the IAS Entrance Test, known as Civil Service Examination, one must hold a bachelors degree awarded by a recognized university. No matter which stream you belong to, what combination of subjects you had in your bachelors degree examination and how much you secured in the qualifying examination, if you are a graduate, you will be considered eligible for writing Civil Service Examination.
  • Age Limit:

The minimum eligible age for candidates belonging to any category is 21 years. However, the maximum age limit varies depending upon the category and is as follows:

General Category: 30 years
OBC Category: 33 years
SC/ST Category: 35 years

The Civil Service Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission and in order to keep yourself updated regarding the upcoming Civil Service Examination, to be held in the year 2013, refer to the official website of the commission.
