Uttam Nandi	Re: Can I do AMIE course after completion of Diploma course? Is it a good choice for me? AMIE is recognised by human resource department of India to be equivalent to B.E./B.Tech degree. The course is carried out is postal mode. This is a good option for those who do not want to persue 4 year duration regular engineering degree course. As a diploma student you can also take admission to various institutes offering B.Tech/B.E program through lateral entry. In case you do not prefer this option you may consider to get AMIE. Benefits you get are AMIE awarded by Institution of Engineer is equivalent to degree offered by institutions recognised by AICTE. You become eligible for GATE, GRE. So you can persue higher studies and research. You become eligible for all publics service commission competitive examinations. You may also choose to do job in private and public run companies. To apply for this examination you must register yourself with Institution of Engineers. Download membership form and send duly filled application form along with proper documents and registration fee to appropriate address. This can be done anytime in a year. Winter examination of this year is scheduled to be held on 1st-7th December, 2012. Those who have not appear for summer exam can apply within 21st Aug to 21 Sep. Candidates who have appeared for summer exam need to apply within 21st Sep to 19th Oct. Online application can be done at www.ieindia.info
