Educational Qualification
Candidates should be Graduation/ Post Graduation for flying branch, Ground Duty Branches; Aeronautical Engg (Electronics, Mechanical) with at least 60% marks for Technical Branch.

All the books available in market regarding AFCAT are just question banks. In order to prepare regarding syllabus you should go for following books.
-Objective General English : 10000 Plus Questions by R.S. Aggarwal
-Lucent's General Knowledge
-Mathematics for CDS by R.S.Aggarwal

Syllabus for AFCAT is as follows:

(a) General Awareness – History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc.

(b) Verbal Ability in English – Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary.

(c) Numerical Ability – Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest.

(d) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test – Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.

Air force common admission test is conducted by the Indian Air force twice in a year. This exam is conducted for the selection of candidate as an officer in various branches of Indian Air force such as FLYING BRANCH, TECHNICAL BRANCH and GROUND DUTY BRANCH.

Exam Pattern
The AFCAT examination is of 100 marks and candidate will get 3 marks for every correct answer. For incorrect answer 1 marks is deducted for the every wrong attempt.
Following topics are asked in the AFCAT examination
(a) General Awareness

(b) Verbal Ability in English

(c) Numerical Ability

(d) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test
