Dear friend, Yes, you are eligible for IPS Exam even if you are doing BCA from IGNOU University. BCA is equivalent to Bachelor's degree or Undergraduate Course which is requirement for appearing in Civil Services Examination. However, you can appear for IPS Exam in Final Year or after completing it. Other Eligibility Criterias of IPS Exam: Age Criteria: For General: 21 to 30 years For OBC: 21 to 33 years For SC/ST: 21 to 35 years No. of Attempts: For General: 3 For OBC: 7 For SC/ST: No Restriction Stages to Qualify IPS Exam: >> Preliminary Exam (CSAT Exam) >> Mains Exam >> Personal Interview Physical Standards required in Civil Services Exam for IPS: Height: For Males: Minimum height is 165 cm, For Females: Minimum height is 150 cm. Other than General Category Candidates, minimum required height is 160 cm for Male and 145 cm for Female Candidates. Chest: For Males: Minimum 84 cm, and should be expandable up to 5 cm For Females: Minimum 79 cm, and should be expandable up to 5 cm Upcoming Civil Services Examination will be commenced on 26 May 2013.

Since , You have completed your Graduation in Indira Gandhi national open university which is recognized by UGC and it is eligibility criteria for UPSC.... With regards , MS |

Re: Can I be eligible to take IPS exam after completion of BCA from distance through IGNOU university IPS(Indian Police Service) exams are conducted by UPSC every year. To apply for IPS exam minimum qualification required is Graduation from a recognized University. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for IPS: Educational Qualifications for IPS : Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Number of Attempts: Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt. |
