Hi I m working as an sap consultant in wipro technologies(as a developer)-i can understand working in this field for 3-4 years can fetch me a very good pay package.But I am somehow interested to work as a finance professional(I have no idea regarding finance sector as i m barely a software engineer with 18 months work-ex)-can anyone please guide me how to opt for the finance line?-is it possible to give CFA exams with only 18 months work-ex? Thanks in advance |

I am a software engineer in wipro technologies...I am very happy ragrding to my work as a developer...but i know that in company always higher posts are allotted to MBA qualifieds...I have No time for doing fulltime MBA degree...But I have potential to do everything....I want to DO CA but in CA it is required to do 3 years practical training but i will never leave my job...so then i got to know about CFA,CIMA,FRM,CPA....What i do by which after some years i have potential to understand buisness terms,stock market as well as all buisness methodolgies.. |

I am an Eco (Hons) graduate n after that I did CFA from ICFAI in 2009.Initially i joined as trade finance manager since due to impact of US crisis there were not much opportunities available but now i realised that there is not much growth in this field and want to switch to Financial Analyst profile.Shall i pursue some other course to enter this field? If yes, den plz suggest something........ |

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants is UK based professional body offering training and qualification in management accountancy and related subjects, focused on accounting for business. The courses in CIMA,UK are also very bright career oriented. But the admission procedure is bit complex for foreign students you can get the details at http://www.cimaglobal.com/ also the FAQ can be asked to know more details. If you are really interested in doing something in finance sector then you must take GRE and GMAT test and then try to find a college from that domain. GRE: Graduate Record Examination for admission in MS in various sectors of ENGG, finance, marketting etc in USA GMAT:Graduate Management Admission Test is the test for admission in masters degree in various US university and ISB Hyderabad in business, marketting and finance sector. I am discussing these test because these are very bright options for experienced persons. Thank You Good Luck |

Dear friends Switching to finance sector is very bright career But, First of all let me tell you (everybody) that course CFA is a course being conducted by an american institute CFA (official website: http://www.cfainstitute.org/). It is a distance learning program just like CA but the one who completes it are of greatest demand. As far as financial sector this is just the best. Learn more about CFA at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chartered_Financial_Analyst I just discussed about that because people sometime get confused with the CFA in ICFAI that it would be affliated with CFA institute USA. Don't take any confusion between the two. The CFA in ICFAI is not affliated with CFA institute USA. For working personals I would suggest to take GRE or GMAT test and do finance courses from ISB Hyderabad or any good US university. The CFA from ICFAI doesn't suit to experienced persons. You should either choose colleges after taking GRE or GMAT test or You can do CFA from CFA institute USA. The details are available on the websites, i mentioned above. Is CFA from ICFAI good in this regard? i dont think its an good idea to move from engineering to finance and specially after this much of experience because it has taken you 13 years to make this much of experience and knowledge in your field and its the time to enjoy the benefits of this things ,but if you move to finance you have to start all over again and make name for yourself again, if you are not satisfied with your current position then you can apply for job in an different organization,and i dont think it will be that tough for you to get job with this much of experiance |

However,since you have 15 years of experiance and also want to move towards finance MBA in Finance whould be much better for you. However,decision is yours best fo luck

CFA is dubbed the best course in finance provided you do the american version and not the icfai version......icfai has a tumultuous relationship with its student and is being run like a diploma mill, its cfa couldt even guarantee a decent job nowadays.. since you are in engineering divison and want to make a career in finance i would advice you to pursue cwa course of icwai, its a master degree and cwa degree-holders have many statutory business power. |
