Re: Am I eligible for SET exam after completing PG with 53.87%

Dear Friend,

SET Stands for State Eligibility Test. It is often referred as the State Lectureship Eligibility Test (SLET).

It is conducted by the state governments for the selection of lecturers in Governmental Colleges.

This Exam is almost identical to the NET Examination which is conducted twice every year by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

As you have completed PG with just 53.87% marks , you are not eligible for the State Eligibility Test.

You Can Find the reason for your ineligibility below :

The Eligibility Criteria For State Eligibility Test are :

* you must have completed post graduation in any stream from any recognized university.

* you must have a minimum of 55% marks in PG.

* You must be an Indian.

* Candidates belonging to SC/ST category get relaxation of 5% marks.

* No relaxation in marks is granted to candidates of OBC Category.

* There is age limit for the SET Exam.

* There is no bar on the number of attempts for this exam.

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.

Re: Am I eligible for SET exam after completing PG with 53.87%

SET which is also know as SLET meaning State Lectureship Eligibility Test is conducted for the post of lecturer in the colleges funded by the state governments. Each state conducts its own SLET entrance exam.

SET is similar to the National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the University Grants Commission for the job of lecturer in the central government colleges. Both NET and the SET have similar requirements however it is believed that NET exam is little more difficult to crack in comparsion of the SLET entrace exam.

Regardless of that it is recommended that you study hard for the whichever exam you are appearing for. It is often advised to study using previous years exam papers and take mock tests online. There is also strong case to opt for Coaching classes to be prepared for the NET or SET entrance exam.

Unfortunately you are not eligible to appear in the SET or the NET entrace exam. The reason is that you felt short of the required percentage in order to appear in exam for lecturer job. You can check the requirements below.

Eligibility

1. You must be Indian Citizen.

2. Only those who have completed post graduation course in any stream are allowed to appear in SET exam.

3. You need at least 55 percent marks in PG course.

4. Candidates belonging to SC/ST (not OBC) require 50 percent marks in post graduation course.

5. Candidates in the final year of post graduation course may also apply.

6. However they need to submit their post graduation degree within 2 years of passing SET/NET exam else they will be disqualified.

7. You need to choose the same subject for NET in which you completed post graduation.

8. The age limit for JRF is 28 years.

9. There is no upper age limit for lecturer job.

10. There is no limit on number of attempts.

For candidates belonging to General category and OBC category, in order to be considered eligible for State Lectureship Eligibility Test (SLET) as well as National Eligibility Test (NET), the minimum percentage of marks required in the masters degree examination is 55%. Candidates belonging to aforementioned category who have secured even 54.99% marks or below in Master's Degree examination are not eligible for this test. Since you have scored 53.87% in your masters degree examination, you will not be considered eligible to take the State Lectureship Eligibility Test.
