Upsc exam consists three stages:- Preliminary exam Mains exam Interview To join upsc exam:- >you must be graduate from a recognized university. Age limit is 21 to 30 years. You must be indian citizen. You must choose optional subject in which you have full knowledge. In other words, You should choose your field realated subject. For more:- www.upsc.gov.in |

AS you are interested for Civil service exam which is conducted through UPSC every year , I am providing you the list of eligibility criteria & details information for this exam:  Educational qualification: The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recongnized university.Final year degree students who will obtain degree by August 1, 2013 are also eligible for CSAT 2013. No.Of Attempt: General Category - 4 times OBC - 7 times SC & ST - Unlimited Age Limit: The age limit is 21 - 30 yrs. There is age relaxation for SC/ST & OBC candidates. Re: Which UPSC optional subject is best for me? I have B.Com degree from DU Hi friend, All the civil service examinations are conducted by the UPSC. UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission. Civil Service exams are like IAS, IPS, IES, IFS. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Candidate should be citizen of india. Candidate should complete the graduation from any recognized university. Final year complete candidates are eligible. Candidate age limit should be between 21 to 30 years. 3 years relaxation for obc and 5 years for SC/ST categories. Both male and female candidates eligible. Selection Process: Preliminary Exam Main Exam Optional Subjects for UPSC exam: Agriculture Commerce Economics Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering Electrical Engineering Geography Geology History Law Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science and International Relations Psychology Public Adminstration Sociology Statistics Zoology Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Anthropology Botany Chemistry Accounts ALL THE BEST. |

Re: Which UPSC optional subject is best for me? I have B.Com degree from DU I believe you are referring to the Civil Service Exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. This exam is conducted for IAS, IPS and IFS recruitment. Now the exam patten for Civil Service Exam is: 1) Preliminary Exam 2) Main Exam There is one paper on optional subject in Preliminary exam while for Main Exam, you are required to choose 2 subjects on which 4 papers would be conducted. It is very important to choose the right subject for optional subject. It is always recommended to select subjects that are related to your course. For example a commerce student can choose subjects like Commerce and Accountancy or even Mathematics. You should always avoid subjects that are not related to your stream especially the subjects that are extremely difficult. A classic example would be Engineering related subjects. It is suicidal to pick any of these subjects. Now let me tell you what a lot of candidates do. Since the preliminary exams are all about qualifying for the Main Exam, several students pick subjects like Geography or History as the optional subject in Preliminary Exam. You can also consider it. Mainly subjects related to your course are best since you will have to put less effort on them.
