It is very true that a proposal has been made according to which graduates shall be exempted from the Common Proficiency Test but is yet get the approval of Union Government. So, no matter if you are a graduate or an undergraduate, if you are willing to sign up for the chartered accountancy course at this point of time, you have got to clear Common Proficiency Test. Even if the proposal is approved by the union government, you will not be considered eligible to get the exemption because as per the recommendation, commerce graduates with 55% or more will only be be able to get the exemption and such candidates can only enroll directly for the Integrated Professional Competence Course.

So, to pursue Chartered Accountancy course, you will need to follow these stages:
  • Qualify Common Proficiency Test
  • Enroll for the Integrated Professional Competence Course
  • Enroll for Information Technology Training
  • Qualify the Integrated Professional Competence Examination
  • Register for Articleship Training and Enroll for the Final Course
  • Qualify the Final Exam, complete 3 1/2 years of Articlsehip Training
  • Undergo General Management and Communication Skill Course

For more information, refer to the official website of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
