Therefore I will recommend you to pursue education further and obtain a bachelor degree. Please see below regarding what you should do. Eligibility 1. 10+2 with PCM as the subjects. 2. At least 50-60 percent marks in 12th board. 3. Candidate should be unmarried at the time of applying. 4. You will have to go through a medical test. Education You have two options for good officer level jobs. 1. A 3 year Bachelor course in nautical science. 2. B.Tech in Marine Engineering which is 4 years long course. Direct Entry You can apply for deck cadet job after completing 12th (PCM). To do so you will have to undergo 3 months pre-sea training. The fee depends on the course and could vary from college to college. Below are some good colleges. You should contact them for information related to fee. SIR I aM puneet bhalla.....i have completed 12th grade with 65% in aggregate and 54% in my pcm. ......i want to join merchant navy .....IT SaID IF ONCE WE JOIN NaVY WE WILL BE into the sea only for all the time and when will get retired we will just have a degree of bsc nautical science or the other,......i dont want any type of work related to bsc as i dont have interests in it.......so should i first do my btech and then get into navy or should i directly go into navy as a deck cadet..........i want to join it write now only.....but i have heard from people around me that we must do btech.......because with bsc degree i will not enjoy further as told earlier i have no interests in it..........please guide me sir .......... |

It would be better if you join merchant navy through SCI as it is an govt. organisation, so it is safe. |

For Getting into Engine Department of Merchant Navy, one has to start career from the post of "Fifth or Junior Engineer" which ultimately lead to Chief Engineer. Qualification Required: A degree in Marine or Mechanical or electrical Engineering from a recognised Institute. MArine engineering holder will get in directly while Mechanical and Elecrical has to undergone 10 months Pre-Sea Training in MArine engineering, which is either offered by recruiting company or candidate has to born itself. Eligibility: First class first pass. Age Limit: 25 years. Institute Offering Pre-Sea Training:- There are few good private institute imparting training and various courses to enable youngster to take up a career in sea. Academy of Maritime Education and Training, chennai. National Institute of Port Management,Uthandi, Chennai. Vel's College of Maritime Studies, pallavaram, Chennai. International Maritime Institute, Greater Noida UP. Tolani Maritime Institute, Erandawane, Pune. Scope: Carer in Mechant Navy has never witness such a tremendous prospects. There are 40% shortage of Chief Engineers and Captains in shipping industry. Whereas for junior level engineers and officers it is 30%. An the rate of growth of Shipping Industry in India is almost 22%. Since Shipping Industry or Trade Or Merchandise comprises 95% of the whole World's Trade. MErchant NAvy has become one stop solution for Lucaretive and properous career. The money is good in this field. You could start off with as much as Rs 20,000 per month starting and work up to 1.5 - 2 lakh a month. If you work for foreign vessels then well you will earn in dollars. Your gross salary can be as much as Rs. 4 lakh a month at the top of your career. You are usually allowed 4-months leave every year. Items like imported liquor, cigarettes are all duty-free on board.
