Re: GATE eligibility with backlogs and less than 60% in Engineering

I have already completed B.Tech (in 2008) in Instrumentation with 80% marks. Now I am doing a job. But I want to sit in GATE Exam and want to do my M.Tech for a bright future. As I have completed B.Tech 3yrs ago so is it possible to sit in 2012 GATE Exam? Thank You.

Re: GATE eligibility with backlogs and less than 60% in Engineering

dear friend,
Gate eligibility criteria does not depend on your marks.

If you have any backlogs you will have to clear the backlogs when you will join the colleges for M.Tech.

GATE eligibility criteria :

=>YOu must complete your graduation .

=>Final yar student can apply for GATE.

=>No pre final year student are allowed for GATE

Re: GATE eligibility with backlogs and less than 60% in Engineering

Hi,

The GATE exam is conducted for the admission to the post graduation program of the various IITs and IISC.
You being an engineering student, the eligibility criteria is that you must have a bachelor's degree in engineering(4 years after 10+2) from a recognized institution.
Also, students of final and pre-final may apply.

There is no minimum condition for percentage, hence you need not worry about it.
However you must make sure you have cleared all backlogs if any.

Good Luck!

Re: GATE eligibility with backlogs and less than 60% in Engineering

Dear friend there is no problem with your backlogs in B.tech for getting Gate exam.
Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

Re: GATE eligibility with backlogs and less than 60% in Engineering

Dear friend,

With your backlogs and percentage of below 60, you can appear for GATE exam but you are not eligible to take admission into respected colleges until you complete your backlogs.

The final year pursuing students are also eligible to appear for GATE exam. GATE score will be valid for a period of 2 years.

By the time you appear for counselling you have to complete all your backlogs. Then only you are eligible to get admission for Mtech.

All the best

Dear Friend ,

Your B.Tech % is Ok . Next , your performance in GATE and interview is that matters . But the main thing is that , with backlogs you are not eligible....

Please don't worry . So , first you clear your backlogs and meanwhile keep on thinking about M.Tech and keep on working for it.... Chances are there left for you....

ALL THE BEST .

Re: GATE eligibility with backlogs and less than 60% in Engineering

if you have backlog then also you are eligible to appear in GATE examination. but when you will take admission through GATE score then you must clear your graduation without any backlog. GATE score card is valid for two years. so you have two years to clear your backlog. i think you will clear your backlog in this time. below 60% marks is not a problem to appear in GATE. bur there are some institution which give opportunity to take admission for those student who have minimum of 60% marks throughout the career. you will not be eligible for these type of institution if you do not have minimum of 60% marks.

Well, dear it is clearly mentioned in the Eligibility Criteria of GATE, that only the candidates with following dergee can appear for GATE, for persuing M.Tech.

1. Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/ Technology (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
2. Master degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
3. Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/ Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/ Technology.
4. Candidates with qualifications obtained through examin
ations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
(As per Information Brochure pg-2)

best of luck for your examination.

Dear friend there are no any boundary condition set by GATE regarding marks in b.tech .according to GATE elligibility criteria only b.tech degree is enough for applying. the marks criteria are generally created by some colleges which conduct their own exam for entry into m.tech . these requires atleast 60% in class 12th and b.tech. don't worry and clear your backlogs before applying for GATE.good luck.

Dear Friend

Its really very good and impressive if you get more than 80% in your BE.

The backlogs that has been cleared are not going to stop you from progressing.

More than 90% companies put only a criteria of 60-70% in BE and don't stop
students who have backlogs cleared.

Backlogs in engineering is very common. And that is true for all sort of colleges.

Don't worry for your campus placement. You will be allowed to appear
most of the companies.
Just improve your technical skills and communication skill too for being in
safer zone for placements.

Thank You

Less percentage will not matter since there's no eligibility criteria mentioned about the mark's scored but you should not have any back logs.

Better pass out your backlogs before the course completes and keep working hard for the GATE exam.Be strong in your basics and core subjects.

dear friend
any B.Tech student(3rd year or above ) can appear in GATE exam, at the time of admission in M.Tech should not have any backlog in any paper.
& marks 60% in B.Tech is not required for GATE.
But only condition is that no any backlog in B.Tech at the time of admission in M.Tech.
All backlogs must be clear.

Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

There is no cut off percentage in GATE. You just need to have a BTech degree from a recognised university.

Regarding backlogs as far as I know you must clear all your backlogs before the completion of your BTech degree.

Re: GATE eligibility with backlogs and less than 60% in Engineering

don't worry obviously you are eligible to appear in GATE. presently the GATE score is valid for two years. so you will get to take admission in master degree or other program using your score card in consecutive two years. so you have to clear all the backlog paper to take admission. as you have two years time surely you can clear your backlog. below 60% candidate are also eligible for get. don't worry about this. give attention to the study and make a good percentile in GATE. best of luck.
