For your Kind Information I would like to Inform you that you will not be eligible to apply for Combined Defense Services Exam until you will not complete your Bachelor degree course.After completing your Bachelor degree course you will able to apply for this entrance exam for getting jobs in Government sectors.There are four stream for which you can apply through this exam.These are :
  1. Indian Naval Academy.
  2. Indian Air-Force Academy.
  3. Indian Army.
  4. Officers Training Academy.
Educational qualification required for Naval Academy/Air-Force Academy/Indian Army :
  • You should have a bachelor degree from recognized university.
  • Your Honors Paper in Bachelor degree course should be Physics/Mathematics.
  • You must have studied Mathematics at 10+2 Level.
  • Your compulsory subject in 10+2 should be English.
Educational qualification required for Officers Training Academy :
  • You should have a bachelor degree in any discipline from recognized university .
  • English should be a compulsory subject in Inter as well as in Graduation level.
Age Requirement :
  • Minimum age required to apply for this exam is 19 years.
  • Maximum age up to which you can apply for this exam is 24 years.
Important :
  • You can apply one time in a year.
  • There is No age Relaxation facility for this exam.
Exam Pattern for CDS Exam :
  • Each section will include 120 questions.
  • Total marks for each section will be 100.
  • Total duration for each section will be 2 hours.
  • Marks for each correct answer will be 0.88.
  • Marks deduced for each wrong answer will be 0.33.
Syllabus for CDS Exam :
  1. English Grammar.
  2. General Knowledge.
  3. Elementary Mathematics (Not for Officers Training Academy).

CDS exam held twice in a year and a student who is in final year of his/her degree course can apply for CDS exam.

The ratio of selection is 1:19 it means competition is very high and hardwork with determination is the only key to clear the exam.

You can look at the previous year paper
1. CSAT by Arihant publishers
2. Reasoning Ability -RS Aggarwal
3. English Newspaper-TOI
4. Basic Mathematics

Passing of written exam is just a single first step, you need to well prepare yourself for 5 days interview.

On the basis of the results of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I)-2013 held by the Union Public Service Commission On 17 February, 2013, 9888 candidates have qualified for being interviewed by the Service Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence, for admission to


(i) Indian Military Academy, Dehradun 136th
(ii) Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Course commencing in January, 2014 (iii) Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying)
(iv) Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai 99th SSC Course (for Men)
(v) Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai, 13th SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course commencing in April, 2014.

Hi Friend..................

There are some eligibility criteria which are given below is important for appearing the CDS exam.

CDS stands for Combined defense services. this exam is conduct by UPSC twice in a year.

Eligibility Criteria For CDS is

Candidate should be graduate from recognized university

Candidate who want to join air force should be completed graduation with subject MATHS and PHYSICS,

Candidate who are appearing final year exam are also eligible

Age Limit

For IMA 19 to 24

For OTA 19 to 25

For NA 19 to 22

For AFA 19 to 23

Male and female both candidate are eligible for CDS exam

Candidate should be indian.
