To apply for the IAS you have to first buy the application form of Civil services which is conducted by UPSC every
year.

you can get the application forms from various designated post offices of the different districts of country.

The cost of application form for general category students is Rs 100 and for the reserved category students it
is free of cost.

The notification for the Exam will comes out in the month of January- mid.

The exam is conducted every year once in the month of May/June and Mains exam in the
month of September/October.

The selected candidates in the mains exam will be called for interview which has a lot of weightage.

There is some elgibility criteria for the exams and i.e is:

1)A candidate need to be a graduate in any field from any recognized university.

2)A candidate must be an INDIAN CITIZEN.

3)A candidate's age must be between 21 to 30 years.

4)There is a relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.

5)The candidate's in their final year are also eligible for the exam but they have to submit their original certificates when they will be joining.

6)Number of attempts: There is some restrication on the number of attempts according to the category.

For SC/ST there is no limit on number of attempts.
For OBC A candidate has 7 number of attempts.
For Genreal category we have 4 number of attempts.

7)The exam conducted is in three stages:
