Re: How much rank can I expect with 40 marks in GATE? you say you are expecting 40 which is indeed very good marks and can expect to get a real good rank. But however, we really cant predict anything about it as many candidates give the exam, and the cut off too is not decided as you know. |

But you don't mentioned your department that will create a problem. Ok if you would mention your department then it will help you both you and me. Although I think your rank would be perhaps within 500. See it varies year to year.Generally two main factors are fully depend on this which are: 1. Number of students appeared in the stream in which you are appearing in. 2. Maximum marks obtained in a year by a candidate. I think you will get chance in N.I.T.s good luck. |

Re: How much rank can I expect with 40 marks in GATE? Hi, Scoring 40 in a GATE exam is a huge achievement. Congrats.... Every year, the student who topped the GATE exam scores around 50. I am sure you will have a very good All India Rank and you will be eligible for counselling. But your score will not get you seat in IIT. So, Better choose best institutions other than IIT. I am sure you will get it. Thanks. |

Re: How much rank can I expect with 40 marks in GATE? if you got 40 marks in GATE from Mechanical engineering your rank will be very good. but the actual rank vary from year to year. it will depend so many factor. but as per previous year you may expect your rank will be less than 4000 in all India rank and your score will be around 700 out of hundred. you will be eligible to apply for most of the IITs and other so many good institution if you want to take admission in M.Tech. but you must prepare for the interview before the admission to get chance to take admission in good institution. the GATE score will carry 70% and interview will carry 30% to take admission in M.tech in good institution. best wishes. |

Hi..Its good that you have appeared for GATE exam and gone through it.Well the raking will differ from the number of students who have appeared for this exam and the overall marks of the students.It will depend upon the marks that the students have scored in the exam.Don't worry though you will not be able to get admission in IIT with this marks but you will definitely get in some good colleges for your further studies easily with this marks. |

My friend gave the ME GATE and said the paper was very tough and even 35 is a good score. But you say you are expecting 40 which is indeed very good marks and can expect to get a real good rank. But however, we really cant predict anything about it as many candidates give the exam, and the cut off too is not decided as you know. So please wait for the results everything will be clear to you. |
