GATE(graduate aptitude test in engineering) is exam conducted by any of the IIT'S for admission into the MTech programme.The students who are with their bachelor degree or the students who are in the final year of BTech are eligible to write the exam.If we crack the gate exam we may get a chance to get admission into the IIT'S or other famous institutes.The gate score is valid for 2 years.Gate score can be used in different ways.Some of companies recruiting the students based on the gate scores. Mechanical is a evergreen branch.So you can prepare for gate without any preparation also.But you should concentrate more on basics in each subject.Because in gate most of questions from basic,they are not going deep into subject.From the basics only they are asking typical questions.Aptitude also plays a key role in gate.Usually questions from mathematics are quite easy compared to other subject question.So concentrate on mathematics such that you should solve all questions from mathematics.For mechanical students questions from industrical engineering also coming.So concentrate in that field also.Questions for industrial engineering are comming from subjects like operations research(linear programming,transportation,simplex,duality),produc tion engineering,project management.Here I am mentioning some books regarding Mechanical engineering for GATE preparation. 1.Thermodynamics by P.K.Nag and Rajput 2.Theory of machines by RS.Kurmi and SS RATAN 3.Mechanics of solids by RK.BANSAL 4.Fluid mechanics by RK.Bansal 5.Heat transfer by JP HOLMEN AND RAJPUT 6.Vbrations and control by T.Govindaraj 7.Manufacturing by Ghoshi mallick 8.Material science by William calister 9.Applied thermodynamics by P.K.Nag 10.S.K.Mondal series of books for GATE AND IES. 11.IC enginers RP Sharma 12.GATE by vikas salariya If you follow the above books and solve some previous question papaers you can definitely crack the exam.The subject going to cover in GATE are 1.Engineering mechanics 2.Mathematics(calculus,probability,laplace,complex variable,matrix algebra,numerical methods) 3.Theory of machines 4.Thermodynamics 5.Heat transfer 6.Fluid mechanics 7.Mechanics of solids 8.Manufacturing processes 9.Material science 10.Vibrations 11.Designing 12.Applications of thermodynamics 13.Operational research 15.Production planning and control 16.Inventory control 17.CAD/CAM basics 18.Aptitude Along with I am sending a file which tells you about complete information regarding GATE. |
