Hi,
According to me pile foundation means which transfer the load of the superstructure to an hard ground below the ground level,where there is an soft ground on the top.
we devide pile foundation in two parts
1 Top
2 pile

pile is used to pass through the hard surface.

pile foundation means ,the foundation which transfer the load of the superstructure to an hard ground below the ground level,where there is an soft ground on the top.
the pile foundation manly consists of two components
1.pile
2.cap


Piles are long slender member which transfer the load to deep bearing soil avoiding the loose shallow soil,these are generally made up of wood,steel and concrete.
the piles are drilled or driven into the ground and connected to pile caps.
the type of piles are decided according to the nature of the soil and the load to be transferred,
Types of piles
1.End bearing piles
2.Friction piles
