Respected Sir, I've completed my three years diploma with 70 percent of marks from EEE branch but I ws having some backlogs before , how ever I managed to complete within in three years and got A class diploma so can I get admission in SRM |

I am really sorry to say that reputed Colleges like NITs,IITs does not offer Engineering admissions to Diploma holders.But you need not to worry,there are many other reputed Colleges which offers admissions to Diploma holders,but you must have completed your Diploma course with at least 60% marks from a recognized State Board of Technical Education. Re: Can I get admission in 2nd year in NIT after completing diploma Unfortunately you can not get admission in National Insitute of Technology in the second year which is commonly known as the lateral entry. The reason is that NIT does not support lateral entry. Similar is the case for Indian Institute of Technology. Therefore you can not get lateral entry in NIT. You will have to consider some other option. For admission in NIT, candidate must appear for AIEEE or ISEET from 2013. Unless you appear for the entrance exam you won't get admission in National Institute of Technology. The eligibility criteria for entrance exam is 12th with PCM as the subjects and at least 40 percent marks. Since diploma course is not considered equivelant to 12th there is no way to seek admission in NIT.However there are various colleges in India that will offer you admission through lateral entry. Apart from IIT and NIT, most colleges in India offer lateral entry for diploma students. These colleges do reserve some seats for lateral entry students. Therefore it would be wise to seek admission in other colleges rather than NIT or IIT. The admission is given through entrance exam called Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET). You will have to appear in this exam for lateral entry admission. However there are colleges who would offer direct admission or may conduct their own entrance exam. If you want admission in B.Tech through lateral entry then you must have minimum of 50/60 percent marks. |
