Classical Mechanics: Kinematics, Newton's laws, Work and Energy, Oscillatory and Rotational Motion, Dynamics of Systems of Particles, Central Forces and Celestial Mechanics, 3D particle dynamics, Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formalism, Non-inertial reference frames, Fluid Dynamics. Electromagnetism: Electrostatics, AC/DC currents and circuits, Magnetic Fields in free space and matter, Lorentz force, Induction, Maxwell's equations and their applications, Electromagnetic waves. Optics and Wave Phenomena: Wave properties, Superposition, Interference, Diffraction, Geometrical optics, Polarization, Doppler effect. Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics: Laws and Processes of thermodynamics, Equations of state, Ideal gases, Kinetic theory, Ensembles, Statistical Concepts, Calculation of thermodynamic quantities, thermal expansion and heat transfer. Quantum Mechanics and Atomic Physics: Fundamental concepts, Solutions of the Schrodinger equation for square wells, harmonic oscillators, and hydrogenic atoms, spin and angular momentum, wave function symmetry, elementary perturbation theory. The syllabus of eth test will differ according to the programs opted by the students. For the integrated program the syllabus covers the areas of Bachelors course and for the Ph.D program it will follow the ration of 60:40, form the Masters course and bachelor’s course. regards neha |
