Duration-3 years Maximum Marks Required 50% in Science- stream Branches of Microbiology are those in which scientists study a particular group of micro organisms for the sole purpose of understanding them better, and not a specific end, such as learning how to use one bacteria to prevent the spread of another. Whereas *Applied Microbiology is the study of microorganisms for the sake of using them,or controlling them in a way that aids humanity. For example, medical microbiologist study how microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses cause diseases in humans. |

Re: What is the difference between Microbiology and Applied Microbiology? Which one is better? Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, which are defined as any living organism that is either a single cell (unicellular), a cell cluster, or has no cells at all (acellular). This includes eukaryotes, such as fungi and protists, and prokaryotes. Viruses and prions, though not strictly classed as living organisms, are also studied. Microbiology typically includes the study of the immune system, or immunology. Generally, immune systems interact with pathogenic microbes; these two disciplines often intersect which is why many colleges offer a paired degree such as "Microbiology and Immunology". apllied microbiology is the application of micriobiology for the benefit of humans like development of medicines, or research applied microbiology is better. |
