i am B.Tech from mechanical engineering.Is there any proceedure of choosing subject in preliminary exam or prelum syllabus is fixed for all student whether they are graduate in any field

Civil Services Examination is the most prestigious examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various All India Services including I.A.S., I.P.S., I.F.S.,I.R.S., and various Group A Services and Group B Services.

The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages :-

1. Civil Services Preliminary Examination ( Objective Type) (Usually conducted in May).
2. Civil Services Main Examination (Written) (Conducted during October/November).
3. Interview and final Selection (During April/May).

Preliminary Examination:

It has two papers.

Paper I 200 Marks (Questions are of Objective Type)
Paper II 200 Marks

See from the above you have to choose any one which you think better for you and you can easily understand for you, this subject must be chosen.

Dear pal,
the selection procedure for IAS involves
common aptitude exam, main exam and personnel interview.
The common aptitude exam is common for all the aspirants who are appearing in the exam. The main exam consist of 9 papers of which four papers are compulsory. And there are four optional papers which the aspirant can choose as per their wish. The various optional papers are physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, animal husbandry, forestry, veterinary, mechanical engineering, economics, statistics etc.
As you have completed mechanical engineering you can choose mechanical engineering as one of your optional papers others you need to decide based on the field of interest.choose any of the subjects mentioned above. All the best
