Nowadays very few shipping companies recruits candidates from commerce background. Earlier, almost every merchant ship used to recruit commerce graduates for the post of pursuer who were responsible to look after the clerical jobs on board. But nowadays this job, in most of the merchant ship, has been taken over by Deck Officers who are usually Nautical Science Graduates with fair amount of knowledge in computers.
So basically there are not many opportunities for candidates belonging to commerce background in merchant navy either after +2 or after Graduation.
