first you have to complete any degree...........then you should prepare for the exam......
when the government releases the notification you have to apply for the exms like upsc group1,2..........

SIR, I am studying in 7 standard my family wants that i want to be a doctor but my ambition is to become an IPS officer i want to do anything which will make my parents feel proud of me can i do IPS after taking MBBS because it is my parents dream that i should become a doctor but when i tell my classmates that i want to become an officer they make fun of me which hurts me very much is officer an bad ambition please help me sir respected minnu

Eligibility to be an IPS Officer

1. Educational Qualification

To be eligible for becoming an IPS officer, the candidate must possess a degree from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification. Those in the final year of a degree course can also appear in the Preliminary Examination taken every year by UPSC.

2. Age

The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years on 1st August of the year of examination and must not have attained 30 years of age on that date.
The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
The upper age limit is also relaxed in favour of Defense Services Personnel.
3. Other Eligibility Conditions

These services involves decision making towards the internal security of the country and taking into account the sensitivity of the job, the aspirants have to be eligible under certain specific conditions as given ahead.

1. For IPS, the candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. For other services, a candidate must be either:

a citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Its good to hear the you are determined from class 11th only.

IPS exams are conducted by UPSC every year.
To become an IPS Officer One Needs to crack Civil Service Exam.

Eligibility criteria

1]Educational Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university

2]Age Limit for IPS exam:
-General - 21 to 30 yrs
-OBC - 21 to 33 yrs
-SC/ST - 21 to 35 yrs
-Defence Personnal - 21 to 33 yrs
-Ex serviceman - 21 to 35 yrs

3]Number of Attempts:
-Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs.
-If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is
counted as an attempt.

•Apply online by using the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in
•Apply offline by purchasing the application form from designated post offices throughout the country.

To become IPS officer you need to complete your studies i.e.complete 11th & 12th,then complete Graduation from a recognized university.
Minimum qualification required to appear for IPS exams is Graduation from a recognized university.

Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs.

Number of Attempts:
Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.
