Associate Membership of Institute of Engineers AMIE is awarded by Institute of Engineers, Kolkata after successful completion of 4 year duration (3 years for diploma holders) engineering course. This is recognised by Human Resource Department of India. AMIE is considered to be equivalent to B.Tech/B.E as you would be able to persue further study, write GATE, do jobs in public and private organisations. This course is especially suitable for those who do not wish to join any regular engineering program but want some alternative to earn a engineering degree. Eligibility criteria for AMIE is 10+2 or equivalent examination pass candidates with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics securing at least 45% marks can apply for technician. They also need pass marks in English. Diploma holders in engineering field can apply for AMIE senior technician. Those who have bachelor's degree in science, computer science or electronics are also eligible for AMIE. As this course is carried out Institution of Engineers, aspirants must register themselves. Membership form is obtainable from the official website. A non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 5800 need to be paid. Following the registration a candidate can apply for entrance examination which is held twice a year in June and December. Registration is open throughout the year. If you registrar yourself now, you may apply for winter examination which is scheduled to be held on 1-7 December, 2012.
