Sir I am Rajput (thakur Rajput) and also we are called as thakur as a caste and I have an obc certificate of thakur though It has been written rajput in my marksheet. So can I apply this obc certificate to get admission in government college or university. Please kindly answer. I m so confused |

Raj means "kingdom" and rajput belongs to relative to the king. My answer is that Rajput are mostly come in general. Its powerful caste. But in some states, peoples think they are in under OBC so some rajputs have obc certificate. But many states know very well Rajputs are General. |

Re: Whether Rajput Caste comes under OBC Category? rajputs of basically genaral caste. but i n diffrent parts of india their surname are diffrent.. like in eastern u.p & weastern bihar sainthwr & mall caste are also rajput..(kshatriya).In early 90's due to poor lifestyle commission considered them as OBC.some opposed to b considered themselve as OBC but many accepted themselve as OBC.since obc categories....based on caste. system...& sainthwars were kshatriya. ...commission denied...but kurmi were accepted as obc by commission.to get benfits of reservation...in govt jobs .sainthwar who are basically kshatriya...demanded them to categorise as obc......since kshatrita is upper caste. and not in obc , sainthwar started to write their caste sainthwar sub caste Kurmi. ......and den started to get certificate of obc.under Creamilayer boundation. This was totally a political and economical....deceision of the community. In future this was a historica,milestone and clever decesion....of SAINTHWAR'S/MALL'S |

A Rajput (from Sanskrit raja-putra, %u201Cson of a king%u201D) is a member of one of the patrilineal clans of western, central, northern India and some parts of Pakistan. They claim to be descendants of ruling Hindu warrior classes of North India.[1][dubious %u2013 discuss] Rajputs rose to prominence during the 6th to 12th centuries. Until the 20th century Rajputs ruled in the "overwhelming majority" of the princely states of Rajasthan and Surashtra, where the largest number of princely states were found.[2] The Rajput population and the former Rajput states are found spread through much of the subcontinent, particularly in north, west and central India. Populations are found in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Surashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra. History of Rajputs The Rajput are a community of the Indian subcontinent and south east Asia. In the Hindustani language, those belonging to the Kshatriya (warrior) Varna (major subgroup) of Hindus are generally referred to as "Rajputs". They ruled in the Indian sub-continent from the 6th to the 20th century and in south east Asia from the 9th to 15th centuries. Nepal was the last empire of Rajputs, which ended in 1950. At the time of the Partition of India in 1947, Rajputs ruled in the "overwhelming majority" of the princely states of Rajasthan and Saurashtra, where the largest number of princely states were found.[1] Many Rajputs claim descent from Rama[2] and Krishna.[3] Rajput clans The Rajputs are a martial race and caste of the Indian subcontinent. Benazir Bhutto Prime minister of Pakistan is also a rajput but who practice Islam Rajputana Rifles The Rajputana Rifles is the most senior rifle regiment of the Indian Army. It was originally raised in 1921 as part of the British Indian Army, when six previously existing regiments were amalgamated together to form six battalions of the 6th Rajputana Rifles. In 1945 the numeral designation was dropped from the title and in 1947 the regiment was transferred to the newly independent Indian Army. Since independence, the regiment has been involved in a number of conflicts against Pakistan, as well as contributing to the Custodian Force (India) in Korea under the aegis of the United Nations in 1953-54 and to the UN Mission to the Congo in 1962. Re: Whether Rajput Caste comes under OBC Category? actually obc certificates are not given on caste basis,actually the obc certificates are for poor background classes for the upliftment of economic condition as obc means other backward class.Except brahmins any one who has a very poor economic background can apply for obc certificate whether it is kshatriya,vaishya or shudra. |

According to Government of India it is true that Rajput caste is under General Category. As for example : Whatever it may be when an OBC candidate wants to fill up the GATE form then the candidate have to pay Rs/- 1000 and similarly a general candidate have to pay the same amount. Ok, some cases OBC candidates get some advantages rather than general category.But I thing Rajput caste is in the general category. good day. |
