There is no specification regarding the particular stream one need to select after 10th class. You can select any subject in the 11th class and 12th class. A graduation is essential in order to become an IPS officer. The graduation can be obtained in any specific subject area as per your interest. You should attend the Civil services exam conducted by UPSC to become an IPS officer. To appear for this exam your age should be between 21 -30 years. There will be age relaxation for the reserved category candidates. The number of permissible attempts for general category candidates is 4. If you qualify in the UPSC exam, you will have to attend the Physical test and personal interview also.

Re: Which stream to choose after 10th to become an IAS officer?

There is no specific stream to choose after 10th to become an IAS officer. One has to complete Graduation Degree in any stream and has to appear for Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year to become an IAS(Indian Administrative Service) Officer.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for Reserved candidate.

The selection is of three tire:-

CSAT- CIVIL SERVICE APTITUDE TEST-PRELIMINARY EXAM

CIVIL SERVICE MAIN

PERSONAL INTERVIEW

As you are now pursing in 11th, it is very good to take interest in Civil Service exam from now. So you should start your preparation for Civil Service exam accordingly along with your regular studies.
