sir I have -1.5 no. in my both sight Can I able to join merchant navy and I m in 10th class ... if this no. will there after passing 12th ... please suggest some good ways ..I m confused

sir i wear specs and after 12 i want to go for merchant navy so i will be selected or not and if had done laser surgery then i will be selected or not

Sir I have 6/6 in left eye& 6/9 in right eye I have been declared as fit in my medicals now should i join Merchant navy as doctor has suggested me to wear spectacles and it can be cured.So should I contine?

the eligibility criteria for join merchant navy is person should have completed 12th standard with p.c.m stream.after 12th you can apply for deck cadet.you should also test a medical fitness test.the age of candidate also be less than 20 years age.you can also study the sea training marine engineering and research institute kolkata , ts chanakya institute.

Go 4 eye correction before 6 months of your test bcz it is mandatory that last operation must be at least 6 months old


Course eligibility age body features
Deck cadet 55%marks in inter In MPC or B.Sc 20-22 eye sight should be 6/6
GME B.E/B.Tech 24 eye sight: +/- 2.5
B.E 60% marks in inter in MPC or 50% in English 20 eye sight: +/- 2.5

Your eye sight must be 6/6 for both the eyes.With specs or without specs.
here are many ways for correcting it like by doing some yoga you can reduce the power or you can go for the laser surgery but i think it is bit complicated,so dont go for it very just keep it as the last option..

Your eye sight must be 6/6 for both the eyes.With specs or without specs.

If your eye sight is lesss then 6/6 then you have to consult the eye specialist for the correction of the eyes.So go accordingly ,All the best.

hey ther if u hav -+.5 its ok but more than that its not allowed in merchant navy.......sorry.......... buut if ur eye canbe cured u hav a chance..........

and you can wear the glasses during you training period and till the time you training get over you eye power also get reduced......

If you are undergone for laser surgery, then you have to take precaution.

There is a condition in that case.

If a candidate has laser surgery, then before joining he/she should not suffere from problem, the opretion must be at least 6 months old.Besides these there must not be any problem persist that will hinder way of performing duty.

merchant navy requires eye sight to be 6/6...without nay error.....
so you might not be eligible for it.....

but you can go for laser surgery and then can apply for merchant navy....

if you are having power less than + or -2.5 then you can go for it.there is no problem but if you are having more than that then you can go for.....
dont worry about the future till that time your eye will be corrected.

at the time of joining you should not have specs.
if u had joined the navy then after few years u can wear the specs.

you have not mentioned your eye number
its valid if you have +- .5 beyound that it is not permissible for merchant navy
you canot undergo eye correction as you will be eliminated during physical tests

kits ok if you have spects with less power but if your eye problem is serious then you should really get it corrected but please dont go for a treatment which may cause you a a serious pronlem in future

I cn do eye corrction. bt is it ok that during my cadetship i can wear specs?? or even if i do the eye correction now, and in a year or two's time, my eye number increases, what do i do then? Is it ok if aftr one or two years during my cadet ship to wear specs??
