The admission in the government based NIT(National Institute of Technology) is done on the basis of the AIR(All India Rank) a candidate obtains in the AIEEE(All India Engineering Entrance Exam).

The NITs are the best universities to pursue B.tech in our country, after the IITs and BITS(Pilani). The AIR required to get into each NIT varies with the branch of NIT(location) and the stream you would like to choose. The best NITs will ofcourse require the highest marks amongst other NITs.

In a 360 marks AIEEE paper, where there are 90 questions each carrying 4 marks, it is adequate to attempt 60 and get a score of about 240 to get the top NITs. Also a score in excess of 200 will be a very good one for a decent branch if not the very best. For lower NITs, even 175 is enough for a seat. These marks mentioned above are for general candidate, if you're an OBC candidate, then you need not worry about cut-offs, as they'll be almost half of those mentioned above.

good luck

IITs and NITs are the most reputed institutes in India. For getting admission into the NITs you need to write the aieee exam. This exam is objective, and its pattern varies periodically.
Aieee 2012 was held for a total of 360 marks. To get admission into the top 15 NITs ,you need to score atleast 250,if you belong to general category and above 200 if you have any reservations.

ALL THE BEST

hi...

AIEEE is the most competitive exam of india. If you wish to take admission in top 15 NITs then you must score at least 200 marks in AIEEE.

By scoring so you can get a seat in top 15 NITs that too in the later counselings of the ccb.

Thank you and all the best!!!
