How much I have to score out of 100 to get into IITs DEAR FRIEND The cut off marks are not fixed and varies according to the situation in GATE for admission into IITs. So it is difficult to predict what marks you have to get in GATE so that you get admission into IITs. But anything above 50 marks out of 100 may get you a seat in IITs. So get atleast these many marks in GATE if you want to take admission into IITs. The cut off marks may increase or decrease according to following factors: -Difficulty level of the question paper. -Number of seat available in the IITs. -Number of candidates qualifying the GATE. It is clear that if you want to succeed then you have to be very well prepared for the exam and give your best in it without worrying about the lowest marks required. So study well and you will surely get admission into IITs. best of luck............. |

GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The GATE score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate. The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate programmes (eg. M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. The score may also be used by Public sector units for employment screening purposes. Since There are many branches in engineering,the merit list is prepared branch wise,because M.Tech is a higher educational course,it gives specialisation in a subject. If you look up the GATE brochure that you have then you will see that there is complicated formula on calculation of a percentile. Not only your marks come into question but also the marks of other candidates sitting for GATE all over India come into question at the time of calculation. Now according to the normal rules, if you are from a General caste then you must get a percentile of equal and above that of around 25-26. If you are from a reserved category then you can get a relaxation of around 9 percentile. So you must score equal to or above 16.67 percentile. Now its upto you that how much you can score but the more you get the better it will be to get an admission in a good institute. |

For Electronics and communication engineering GATE cut off marks is different than any other branch. Every department have their own cut off marks. Even for reserved category also have different cut off marks in GATE examination. You have not mentioned in from which department you will appear in GATE examination. This year for electronics and communication engineering cut off marks was 25 out of 100 in GATE 2012 examination. Generally cut off marks for GATE examination for most of the team closed to 25. If you can get 30 marks out of 100 then surely you will clear the GATE examination cut off. If you want to take admission in IITs through GATE examination then you should have very good GATE score. IITs are the best institution for technical and science study. So generally candidates those have very good GATE score they take admission in IITs. Generally if you have GATE score more than 50 out of 100 in GATE examination then you may get chance to take admission in IIT. GATE examination Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering. This examination not only helps to take admission for higher study but also helps to get good job. There are so many public sector those are recruiting candidates through GATE score. Even if you have good GATE score and you are trying for job in a company then also you will get added advantage because of your GATE score. As you are interested in GATE examination then you should be well prepared before appearing in the examination. Study the subjects attentive which are related to your stream. Also buy some good books for GATE examination preparation and solve them. Go through the previous few year GATE examination question papers. If you can try hard surely you will be able to clear the GATE examination with good score. Best of luck. |
