In order to join Merchant Navy after qualifying secondary level of examination, you must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Must have passed 10th with a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate with Mathematics and Science and a minimum of 40% marks in English.
Must have attained the age of 17.5 years and must not be over 25 years of age.

If you fulfill the aforementioned criteria, you will have to than undergo General Purpose Rating Course which is offered by many institutes in India. The duration of the course will be six months and after successful completion of the course, you will be able to join Merchant Navy.

Orissa Maritime Academy
Trident College of Marine Technology
Sriram Institute of Maritime Studies
Academy of Maritime Studies
Commander Ali Academy of Merchant Navy
International Maritime Academy
